With the rise of COVID-19 and the increased requirements for N95 masks and full faced respirator protection, critical communication has become a major issue as the restricted air masks limit voice and sound. Even face to face communication can be ineffective when air flow is restricted by a mask and face shield. This includes environments such as hospital emergency departments, ambulance, dental clinics and ICU isolation wards.

An IASUS GP3-R throat mic paired with Philips portable speaker provides a simple and effective solution to support the work of our medical teams. The throat microphone is worn OUTSIDE of your PPE yet can still pick up your voice when worn on your neck near your larynx, whilst the Phillips speaker amplifies your voice so that co-workers can hear your needs.

The neck strap has a magnetic breakaway clasp for safety and ease of use, and is designed to be washed and could conceivably remain in the 'RED' zone for multiple uses as it is worn outside your PPE.


Throat Mic Technology

IASUS GP3-R headsets are based upon a concept developed by the military during WWII for use in tanks and are designed for high noise environments where typical headset communication systems that rely conventional microphone noise cancellation fail.

The IASUS Gen 3.0 NT transponders pick up only voice signals by directly absorbing the vibrations created from the user’s throat, bypassing air as a medium of conduction.
