Fixing a mount permanently to your aircraft may require CAA approval as it may be deemed to be a “mod” – see here for a link to CAA website. We stock a huge range of RAM components.

RAM's kneeboard solution is handy for light VFR / IFR aircraft or if you are jumping from airframe to airframe. The Twist-lock suction cup is ideal for window mounted EFBs – dual and even triple suction cup bases are available. We have sold our RAM mounts to several New Zealand based operators for their EFB solutions. So where do I start?
Most RAM complete mounts have three parts – Base – Arm - Cradle.
Ball size – the larger the diameter of the balls in the mounting system the more load and vibration they can take. For most light aircraft a 1” B Series will do just fine but if you are in a commercial operation or in a helicopter then we would suggest a 1.5” C Series mount.
Base – where in the cockpit do you want to mount the device? It should not interfere with your vision, but suction cup mounts can fix to the window glass in an unobtrusive position - ideal for phones and phablets. Heavier devices may need double suction cup bases. They need a non-porous surface and with higher G or vibration environments a double or triple suction cup base may be needed. Maybe you would prefer the device to be a little lower – consider a Glare-Shield Clamp base. Perhaps you need the device in a permanent or semi-permanent dashboard position – an adhesive or drill-down base might be the solution – a RAM-B-202U round base will mount just about anywhere. Maybe there is a roll bar or rail that can be used for a U-Bolt or Strap mount? A magnetic base will attach to flat steel surfaces painted or not. A Tough-Claw can clamp to round or flat surfaces.
Arm – Short, medium or long? Most mounts are available with any arm length so if it’s the right set-up but the arm length is not what you need consider making the set-up using the component parts – or just ask us for help! For B series arms short is 60mm, medium 94mm and long is 152mm overall length. For C series arms short is 89mm, medium 147mm and long is 232mm overall length.
Cradles – either device specific (EZ-Roll-r or Form-Fit) or a universal cradle. The hugely popular X-Grip comes in various sizes – UN7 for smartphones, UN8 for 7-8” Tablets, UN9 for 9-10” Tablets, UN10 for Phablets and UN11 for 12” Tablets. The Quick-Grip comes in 2 sizes – PD3 for smartphones and PD4 for larger phones / phablets. The Finger-Grip is ideal for radios and smaller phones. There are also systems for Action Camera / Go Pro’s and for GPS devices including Garmin, Magellan and Spot. Tab-Tite cradles are secure and easy to load and unload the tablet – they also can be cheaply modified if the device you are using changes – just add a new appropriate Top-Cup. The Tab-Tite range is also ideal if you have a case on your EFB Tablet.

If you already know the part number for the complete mount that you require and cannot find it on our site - try putting "-V" on the end - e.g. the popular RAM-B-166-UN7U would be RAM-B-166-UN7U-V. That would mean we have the parts to make the complete kit - same parts, same pricing as the complete kit.
