Ready2Talk PA Systems: What do you Need?
Are you looking to purchase a Ready2Talk PA system but don't know where to start? Don't worry! This guide will walk you through the process step-by-step, making it easy for you to find the right system for your needs
- Installed or plug and play?
If you have a stereo system in your machine with a 3.5mm input (that’s the round one like older wired headphones for your phone used) then consider a PA5 Portable – plug into the stereo 3.5mm input, plug into the power socket (cigarette type) and plug in your microphone (wired or Bluetooth) and you are away! The sound will come through the installed speakers in your van / coach. As the name suggests the PA5 Portable can move quickly between similar vehicles as well.
The JB6 plugs into the power socket (cigarette type) of your van but does not use the inbuilt speakers of your vehicle. The JB6 speakers themselves are portable so if you are jumping out of the van with your customers and you want a PA system that will work out of the van as well then the JB6 is the way to go. All wired and Bluetooth Ready2Talk microphones will plug straight in.
If you want to use the speakers in your machine but you don’t have the 3.5mm input then use the PA63 or PA64. There are a few differences between the PA63 and PA64 but the most important is that the PA64 has 2 microphone inputs allowing a driver and commentator to both speak to the customers. Wired or Bluetooth headset options are available. You’re either going to be handy with a soldering iron or you’re going to need an installer – we can give you some guidance to people we have used before.
- Choose your microphone
Wired, Bluetooth, Gooseneck or handheld? Your call, every Ready2Talk microphone will work with all Ready2Talk systems but only one Bluetooth at a time for PA64 users! If you go Bluetooth get a wired back up for the day that the other person who uses the van has forgotten to charge it overnight … hate it when they do that!
- Accessorise for success
There are wiring harnesses available for the Sprinter and Transit van ranges. Your installer may or may not require these so talk to them.
The IT 42 is required only if your vehicle has Reverse Sensor Beepers and you are installing a PA 63 or PA 64. It allows both the hands-free mic on your phone and the reverse beepers to work.
There are remote microphone sockets (so you can have a microphone in the rear of the vehicle) and extension kits also available.
Spare socks keep your feet warm but spare microphone socks keep the microphone sanitary when multiple users are involved. The windsocks also take a lot of the “heavy breathing” out of the equation (most mics have an inline on off switch but sometimes we forget ..)
Conclusion
With your new Ready2Talk PA system set up, you'll be ready to deliver clear and powerful audio for any vehicle. Your customers will love the great commentary that you can now provide, and the drivers are safer with hands on the controls, not fiddling with the stereo.
