The RAP-B-166-2-UN10U pairs the RAM® X-Grip® large phone cradle with a low-profile 70mm (2.75") RAM® Twist-Lock™ suction cup base and a composite double socket arm. It holds large phones up to 114mm (4.5") wide on glass and smooth, non-porous surfaces, making it ideal for vehicle windscreens where a full-size cup would be obtrusive.

FAQs

Is this a complete mount? Yes. The low-profile suction base, composite arm and X-Grip large phone cradle are all included — there's nothing else to buy to get your phone onto the glass.

How is this different from the RAP-B-224-2-A-UN10U? Both kits use the same RAP-B-224-2U low-profile suction base and the same RAM-HOL-UN10BU X-Grip cradle. The only difference is the arm. This kit uses the RAP-B-201-1U lightweight composite double socket arm; the RAP-B-224-2-A-UN10U uses the RAP-B-201U-A short composite arm. The two are within a couple of millimetres of each other in length, so choose on the arm itself rather than expecting any real difference in reach.

What surfaces will the cup stick to? Glass and other smooth, non-porous surfaces. Textured dashboards, matte plastic and any surface with a grain won't hold — clean both the cup and the surface before mounting. A RAM® adhesive disk gives the cup a smooth face to grip on an otherwise unsuitable surface.

Low-profile or full-size cup? The 70mm cup here takes up noticeably less windscreen and sits flatter against the glass, which is why people pick it for smaller cars and anywhere the mount is in the line of sight. The full-size 83.8mm cup (RAP-B-166-UN10U) has more surface area and is the safer bet for rough roads, heavy phones or a permanently mounted setup.

Will my phone fit with a case on? Measure the width of your phone with the case fitted. This cradle opens from 44.45mm to 114.3mm wide and takes devices up to 22.2mm thick, which covers large phones in most cases, including chunkier rugged ones.

Is the tether included? Yes. We'd recommend fitting it for off-road, marine and any other high-vibration use — it's cheap insurance if the phone is ever knocked loose.

Should I get the UN10 or the UN7 version? The UN10 cradle here is the larger of the two and suits big-screen phones. If your phone is a standard size, the UN7 version of this same kit grips it more securely — a smaller phone in the UN10 cradle sits looser than it should.
