The RAM-GDS-DOCKL-AP37CPU is the key-locking version of the AP37 Tough-Dock. It holds and charges a large-format Apple iPad wrapped in an IntelliSkin® Next Gen sleeve, and a keyed latch across the top of the dock stops the tablet being lifted out. That matters in forklifts, service vans and any vehicle left unattended with the tablet still in the cab. Two keys are supplied.

Works With

Apple iPad Pro 12.9" (3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Gen), iPad Pro 13 and iPad Air 13, each wrapped in the matching IntelliSkin® Next Gen sleeve. The sleeve is not included and is required; the dock charges through the sleeve's pogo pins, not through the iPad's own port. The dock connects to RAM® ball and socket systems via a 4-hole AMPS pattern ball adaptor, sold separately. FAQs

Why does the locking dock charge slower than the plain one?

It uses a different dock cup. This one delivers 15W at 5V to 12V, where the non-locking RAM-GDS-DOCK-AP37CPU delivers up to 60W at 5V to 20V. A 12.9" iPad will still charge on 15W, but slowly under heavy use. If charge speed matters more than security, take the non-locking dock.

How secure is the lock?

It is a keyed latch, not a safe. It stops an opportunist walking off with the tablet and it stops the iPad bouncing out over rough ground. Someone determined with tools will still get it out.

Do I need an IntelliSkin sleeve as well?

Yes. The dock charges through the pogo pins on an IntelliSkin® Next Gen sleeve, so the iPad has to be wearing one. It is not included with the dock.

Do I need a special charger?

Yes; a Power Delivery (PD) charger is required to supply sufficient power to this dock.
