The RAM-GDS-DOCKLF-AP37CPU is the fully specified version of the AP37 dock: a spring-loaded, key-locking vehicle dock with a built-in cooling fan. It holds and charges a large-format Apple iPad wrapped in an IntelliSkin® Next Gen sleeve, locks it in place against theft, and actively cools it in vehicles where the tablet would otherwise throttle in the heat.

Works With

Apple iPad Pro 12.9" (3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Gen), iPad Pro 13 and iPad Air 13, each wrapped in the matching IntelliSkin® Next Gen sleeve. The sleeve is not included and is required; the dock charges through the sleeve's pogo pins, not through the iPad's own port. The dock connects to RAM® ball and socket systems via a 4-hole AMPS pattern ball adaptor, sold separately. This unit is effectively the RAM-GDS-DOCKL-AP37CPU locking dock with the GDS® Fan Accessory fitted from the factory.

FAQs

Do I need an IntelliSkin sleeve as well?

Yes. The dock charges through the pogo pins on an IntelliSkin® Next Gen sleeve, so the iPad has to be wearing one. It is not included with the dock.

How does the cooling fan work?

It is a straightforward 12-VDC axial fan wired into the vehicle through an SAE quick disconnect. There is no thermostat or temperature sensing; the fan runs whenever the vehicle is running. If you want it off, pull the SAE connector apart.

Why is the charging output lower than the standard Tough-Dock?

This dock delivers 15W at 5V to 12V, where the non-locking RAM-GDS-DOCK-AP37CPU delivers up to 60W at 5V to 20V. If fast charging matters more to you than locking and cooling, the plain Tough-Dock is the better fit. A Power Delivery (PD) charger is still required either way.

Is it weatherproof?

No. RAM don't publish an IP rating for the GDS docks because the pogo pins are moving parts. Treat it as an in-cab fitting.
