How to choose the best phone mount.
We carry a broad range of reliable options to suit every phone, however choosing the best phone mount for you requires some thought. A RAM based solution is not $2 shop option, it is an investment in quality. We believe that reliability and build quality are not negotiable and we refuse to sell flimsy solutions that break after a few months in the sun. When we help our clients through the selection process we generally ask the following questions:
Will it be out in the elements or inside a vehicle?
For open cockpit vehicles such as motorcycles we recommend either an X-Grip with a tether or a Quick-Grip cradle wherever there is a risk of your expensive device ending up on the road.
How big is your phone?
Many of our cradles come in two sizes - the RAM-HOL-UN7 X-Grip or RAM-HOL-PD3 Quick-Grip suit regular sized phones. See our larger phone section for versions for plus sized phones.
Will it be in a case?
The Form-Fit range of phone holders suit Apple iPhones WITHOUT case. For phones in a case then consider the X-grip, Quick-Grip or Universal series of cradles
How big is that case?
Measure the dimensions of the phone inside of its case. Pay particular attention to the thickness. The Quick-Grip is limited to phones 18mm thick or less. For thicker phones head to the X-grip range.
Do you prefer ease of use over secure holding?
For easier installation see the universal cradles such as the RAM-HOL-UN1U, RAM-HOL-UN4U or RAM-HOL-UN5U. For more security, especially where there is a chance that your expensive device could hit the road then look at the X-Grip range with tether, or Quick-Grip. The X-grip is great for shared vehicles as it quickly and easily adjusts itself to suit different phones.
